Ronald Lee Regula, 81, of Sugarcreek, passed away surrounded by his loving family in Akron General Hospital on May 27, 2024, following injuries sustained from a lawnmower accident.
Born in Bucks Township, Ohio on February 8, 1943, he was the son of the late Victor and Jane (Medley) Regula.
After graduating from Baltic High School in 1963, Ron tended to the farm. There he developed his love for gardening, planting flowers, and caring well for the land. His career transitioned from farming to meat cutting at local grocery stores, including opening his own store, Ron and Carol’s Custom Meats, and ultimately retiring twice from Buehler’s as the meat manager. He had a superior work ethic and was very dedicated to his jobs.
Fondly known as “Ronnie” to his friends, Ron never met a stranger. He was genuinely interested in the lives of those around him. Whether he was engaged with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, or friends, he always offered a warm smile, several jokes, and a fond farewell. He attended their sporting events, hosted holiday gatherings, went to 4-H horse shows, and any other activity that engaged him with his family.
Ron had numerous passions, including swinging on the porch with his fiancé, Loretta Yoder, enjoying the beauty of their property, playing cards, woodworking, and cheering for the Cleveland Browns and Indians. He taught his family to fish with many memories created at the Baltic Conservation Club. He was also a gifted baker and cook.
Ron’s blended family includes his children, Shawn (Barb Albritton) Regula, Misty (Dean) Green, Jeff (Sue) Sergent, Paula (Denny) Drumm, Mike (Christine) Sergent and Pam (Matt) Trimmer; grandchildren, Josh Squires, Sarah (Luke) Pulley, Trenton Cost, Keri (Brent) Lewis, David (Danya) Sergent, Leslie Korns, Nicole (Bill) Fowles, Jaclyn (David) Stull, Aaronn (Anna) Sergent, Ryan Trimmer, and Lauren (fiancé, Kylle Clark) Trimmer; great-grandchildren, Chase, Colin, and Landon Lewis, Lydia and Evie Sergent, Carter and Colton Korns, Wynn and Willow Fowles, Cora and Arlie Pulley, Weston and Barrett Stull, and Kaden Clark; sister, Vicky (Fred) Yoder; and his fiancé, Loretta Yoder and her family including children, Kevin (Donna) Yoder and Jason (Amy) Yoder; her grandchildren, Alexis (Janson) Lenzo, Trevor Yoder, Destiny (Jon) Gang, and Marissa Yoder; and her great-grandchildren, Owen Lenzo and Aniyah and Raylie Yoder.
In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in passing by his wife, Carol Sergent Regula; and his sister Shirley Davis.
Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Sunday, June 2, 2024 from 1 to 4 p.m. A service celebrating Ron’s life will be held in the Schoenbrunn Community Moravian Church on Monday, June 3, 2024 beginning at 1 p.m. followed by burial at East Avenue Cemetery.
