Ronald Robertson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Proctor's Mortuary - Beaumont on Jan. 22, 2026.
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts, the family of Ronald "Lil Ronnie" Wayne Robertson, Jr. announces his unexpected passing on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at the age of 48.

Gathering of Family and Friends will be held at 2PM with Services beginning at 3PM on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, at First Baptist Church 350 Hwy 96 S, Silsbee, TX.

Ronnie was born on October 22, 1977, in Galveston, Texas, to Ronald Wayne Robertson, Sr. and Patricia Howard-Robertson. He spent his childhood in Silsbee, Texas. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church where he was baptized, served on the Junior Usher Board, choir, and was the "Penny King".

As a teenager, Ronnie attended Silsbee High School where he would be a standout football player, leading to him becoming a finalist for the Willie Ray Smith Award following the Tigers' 1995 season. After graduating from Silsbee High School in 1996, he would go on to attend Blinn College on a football scholarship where he was coached by Willie Fritz. That same year, Ronnie would be a starting member on the Buccaneers' 1996 NJCAA National Championship team.

After a promising high school and collegiate football career, Ronnie would later follow in his grandfather's footsteps and began his professional career at Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway (BNSF) where he would become a locomotive engineer and would be recognized with the Top Gun Award as an engineer who scores in the top 5% of network simulatortrainees. He built a long and dedicated career at BNSF for over twenty-years. It was during this time he would call the Nederland/Port Arthur area home, building family, friends, and community.

Ronnie was not just about work but had many hobbies. He would trade in his cleats to become a loyal, San Francisco 49ers fan. He would develop a love of dirt bikes as a child and this love would later grow into racing motorcycles as an adult. He would own several bikes throughout his lifetime. He had a need for "speed" and would spend time at the Houston Raceway Park and the Lone Star Rally annually. Through these hobbies he would build a community of fellow bikers and life-long friends. And in his spare time, he would work security at SkyBar Lounge in Nederland, Texas where he was respected and cherished.

He was also a loved and adored "Girl Dad" to daughters, TalorJones-Robertson of Beaumont, Texas; Faith Christine Robertson of South Georgia; and Rhonnie Patricia-Marie Robertson of Port Arthur, Texas. He will forever be missed and loved by his life partner, Ashley N. Jones of Port Arthur, Texas. His Dad and namesake, Ronald Wayne Robertson, Sr. of Silsbee, Texas. His sister, Latina (Adam & Jaxson) Robertson-Gradney. His legacy will continue with his grandchild, Braleigh Griffin. His grandmother, Jessie Lee Young.

Ronnie had a special relationship with his aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; they were an important part of his life and they will cherish the time and memories made throughout his life. He was "Man" to some, "Chubs" to others, no matter the name he was loved. His family thought they would have more time to make memories, but God needed him more.

He is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Patricia Howard-Robertson, his sister, Valerie Simpson-Gradney, his uncle; Douglas Keith Howard, Sr., his grandparents; Herman Howard, Sr., Christine Howard, and Andrew Young, Jr.
