Ronald Romero Obituary

Ronald Eugene Romero

December 9, 1945 - January 25, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Ronald (Ron) Eugene Romero Sr., a loving husband, father, grandfather & great-grandfather. Ron passed away peacefully with his beloved wife of nearly 57 years, Carol, holding his hand. His final moments were filled with love, prayer, and the comforting recitation of his favorite scriptures being read to him as he crossed over to be with his Lord and Savior.

Ron grew up with a deep love for the ocean, cars, trains, boats and planes along with his dogs.

After graduating high school, he joined the United States Air Force, serving his country for four years, including a year overseas in Thailand during the Vietnam War.

Ron's life was guided by his dedication to serving both his country and his community. He began his career in law enforcement in 1971 as a reserve officer with the Santa Paula Police Department in California. After graduating from the POST Academy in 1973, he became a full-time officer, and in 1977, after earning his associate's degree, Ron became a detective.

In 1979, Ron relocated his family to Buhl, Idaho, where his career in law enforcement continued. Starting at the Filer Police Department, Buhl Police Department eventually rising to the rank of Chief of Police and retired in 2010.

Ron has work at Twin Falls County Sheriff's Department and Shoshone Police Department.

Ron had a lifelong passion for bowling and bowled league 2 times a week up until his passing.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Norma Romero, and his brother, Danny Romero. He is survived by his wife, Carol; his children, Karla VanderWeide (Chris), Ronald Romero Jr., and Kathryn Romero (Tim); his grandchildren, Angela Henson Dome, Christopher Henson, and Michael Romero; his great-grandchildren, CoralRae, Koi, and Charlie; and his two sisters, Pam Woodruff and Mary Davidson.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, 11 a.m. February 1, 2025, at Magic Valley Baptist Church at 400 9th Ave N, Buhl, Idaho.

Veteran Honors Guard will follow at Snake River National Cemetery.

Ron will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his sense of duty, and his love for his family. His legacy of service, laughter, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Ron was a very good man. I loved him as a friend. Though we weren´t close in recent years, I always considered him one of my best friends. I feel almost hollow. Rest in peace, Ron. You will be missed more than you know.
