Ronald Rossate Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ronald J. "Ron" Rossate, loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, and cherished member of our community. Ron passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Monday, February 17, 2025 at the age of 83, surrounded by family. Ron was born April 22, 1941, in Chicago, to Sylvio and Helen (nee Kroczek) Rossate.
Ron is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Francine (nee Darnell); his daughters, Audrey (Thomas) Engelbrecht, Andrea (Timothy) Farrell and Anmarie (Bill) Brandenburg; six grandchildren, T. Addison, Harrison (Alexis), Joseph, Charlie, Abby and Lauren; his brother, Jack (Susan) Rossate, and his trusted canine companion Macie.
He is predeceased by his parents; his loving first wife of 30 years, Trudy (nee Golda) and his sister, Charmaine (Mike) Golda.
Ron was a graduate of Loyola University where he was Vice President of Alpha Kappa Psi Fraternity. Ron was a proud veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and was an accountant
by trade. He was a member of Cathedral of St. Peter Church and long-time member of Forest Hills Country Club where he spent countless hours doing the scorekeeping for swim meets when his kids were young and later playing golf with his wife, children and grandsons. Ron participated in the Rockford ProAm annually with his trusted partner Frankie Graceffa, which they won in 1998.He served on the ProAm committee for many years, was a member of the Board of Trustees at OSF St. Anthonys, and was a longtime supporter and volunteer fundraiser for CASA of Winnebago.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 24, 2025 at the Cathedral of St. Peter Church, 1243 N. Church St., Rockford with Father Kenneth Anderson officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., Rockford. Burial in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
