Ronald D. Sargent, age 76, of Laurens, Iowa and formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa passed away peacefully in his home in Laurens on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.

Ronald Dean Sargent was born on March 16, 1949, to Albert and Hazel (Robeson) Sargent in Cherokee Iowa. As a child, Ronald lived in Iowa, Texas, and Oregon. He spoke fondly of his time in Texas growing up on a cattle ranch where he learned to care for horses and work on the ranch. He moved back to Iowa in his teens and settled in Storm Lake, Iowa, where he spent the majority of his life.
At the age of seventeen, Ronald enlisted in the Army. While on active duty, he served two terms stationed in Vietnam, from 1967-1969. After returning home, Ronald remained in the Army reserves until 1973.
Ronald was united in marriage to Roberta Mae Goodwin on March 6, 1971. To this union, four children were born, Ronald Jr, Michael, Tracy, and Rebecca. Ronald was a true family man and held the greatest love for his family. He enjoyed any time they were able to spend together. He would boast to everyone about how proud he was of all of his kids and grandkids.
Ronald was a hard worker and always made time to help others. He made a career truck driving but was known as a "jack of all trades" with all the knowledge he held.
Ronald loved music and dancing. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert Sargent and Hazel Lloyd; two brothers, Ollie Sargent and Donald Sargent; two sisters, Jessie Taylor and Alberta Castillo; a niece, Teresa Castillo; a nephew, John Sanders; and a son-in-law, Michael Witter.
Among those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Roberta Sargent; children, Ronald (Melissa) Sargent, Michael (Traci) Sargent, Tracy Witter, and Rebecca Sargent (Richard Brewer); grandchildren, Courtney (Brandon) Bogue, Cassandra Sargent, Sydney (Alexx) Onisto, Brandon (Ashley) Sargent, Brett Sargent, Beau (Dot) Taylor, Breeana Witter, Norah West, Warren Brewer, Charlie (Heath) Stille, Jonathon Syndergaard, Toni Sargent; many great-grandchildren; brothers, Harold (Rose) Lloyd and Gary Lloyd; sisters, Wanetta Mitchell, Ninon Lloyd, and Tina (Doug) Hansen; many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
