Ronald Weldon Scott, 88, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on January 5, 2026, surrounded by family. He was born on February 8, 1937, in Ogden, Utah, to Weldon and Anne Scott.

Ronald grew up in Cheyenne, WY with strong values that shaped the way he lived his life. While attending high school in Cheyenne, he met the love of his life, Marilyn, whom he would later marry. They shared over 65 devoted years together. He attended the University of Wyoming for pre-med school, where he was roommates with his best friend since childhood, Jack Sanford. He went on to attend Northwestern University in Chicago, IL where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. He then joined the Navy as a commissioned officer.

Ronald proudly served his country in the United States Navy, beginning his dental career in 1961. During his time in the Navy, he earned a National Defense Service Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal and a Meritorious Unit Citation Ribbon. After more than 25 years of service, he retired in 1987 with the rank of Commander. His service reflected his deep sense of commitment, integrity, and dedication to others.

He was often described as a true gentleman and a genuinely “nice guy.” Ronald greeted everyone with a smile and was known for his honesty, fairness, and calm demeanor. He was easygoing, slow to anger, and thoughtful in his decisions. A humble and selfless man, he consistently put the needs of others ahead of his own and never sought recognition for his accomplishments.

Ronald had a warm sense of humor and enjoyed making jokes. He loved attending church, watching sporting events with his family, spending time outdoors, working in the yard, and going on walks. Even simple outings, like shopping trips, brought him joy—he delighted in smiling and waving at others, especially children. And above all, he absolutely loved cookies.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Marilyn Scott; his daughter, Brenda (Scott) Haas, and her husband, Robert Haas; his son, Robert Scott; his grandchildren, William Lee, Heather Lee, and Andrew Haas; and his sister, Midge Goldsmith of Grand Island, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his parents, Weldon and Anne Scott.

Ronald will be remembered for his kindness, humility, unwavering devotion to his family, and the quiet way he made everyone around him feel seen and valued. His legacy is one of love, service, and gentle goodness.
