RONALD JAMES SEITZER, age 80, of Janesville, died on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.
Born on February 17, 1943, in St. Peter, he was born to George and Lillian (Peterson) Seitzer. Ron grew up on the family farm outside of Cleveland, Minnesota and attended Cleveland Public School. At the age of 17, he enlisted into the United States Army Reserves and honorable served his country until being called home to help on the family farm. Ron continued his education upon his honorable discharge at Mankato VoTech completing an 18-month welding program. On October 17, 1970, Ron was united in marriage to Nancy Hemple at St. Peter Catholic Church in St. Peter. Together they shared 44 years of marriage before Nancy passed away on July 17, 2015.
Throughout his life, Ron worked alongside his dad on the family farm as well as at Hinikers as a welder for several years. He enjoyed watching old westerns, gardening, and fishing. Ron had an incredible talent to build something out of what most people would find to be scraps; he was able to build outbuildings with old wood and could fix any vehicle. Above all else he cherished the time he spent as dad and grandpa! He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Janesville.
Ron is survived by his children: Christie (Craig) Johnson of Janesville, Ken of Waldorf, Chad (Janelle) of New Prague, and Sam of Winnebago; four grandchildren: Zechariah, Dakota, and Christopher Johnson and Hank Seitzer; three brothers: Jeff, Randy (Lori) and Todd; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents and wife.
