Ronald (Ron) John Seppanen, age 65, of Hayti, SD, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2023 at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown, SD. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at the Apostolic Lutheran Church, north of Lake Norden, SD. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. at the church, prior to the memorial service.
Burial will be at the Apostolic Lutheran Cemetery in rural Lake Norden, SD. Pallbearers will be his sons Douglas, Jacob, Ben, Bill, and Steven, and son-in-law's Jonathan Johnson and Jerry Williams.
Ron was born August 18, 1957 to Maurice and Esther Seppanen in Berkley, CA, where he lived until he was 17 years old. He then moved to Battle Ground, WA. There he met his beloved wife of 46 years, Connie (Matson) Seppanen. A year later they moved to South Dakota, where he enjoyed farming for 45 years, including 33 years milking cows. He was a member of the Watertown Apostolic Lutheran Church where he served on the board for many years.
His children had the privilege of growing up on the farm with their Dad, learning about tractors, cows, crops, life and God.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister Lisa, mother-in-law Doris Matson, and brother-in-law and friend Reuben Aho.
He will be sorely missed by his wife Connie; his children Douglas (Amanda) Seppanen of Pasco, WA, Alice (Jonathan) Johnson of La Center, WA, Jacob (Liisa) Seppanen of La Center, WA, Ben (Lynn) Seppanen of Timken, KS, Jill (Jerry) Williams of Watertown, SD, Bill (Minda) Seppanen of Hayti, SD, and Steven Seppanen of Watertown, SD; his grandchildren Kensington, Annabell, Elijah, Anderson, Joy, Amy, Aileen, Travis, Devin, Tyndale, Jessa, Caroline and Wren; his brother Loren (Sandra) Seppanen of Hayti, SD, his friend and pastor Reino Maunu, and many other relatives and friends.
