Ronald W. Sexton, fondly known as Ron, passed away on July 14, 2024 leaving a legacy of love and dedication behind. Born on August 17, 1947, in Toledo, Ohio, Ron lived a life that touched the hearts of many.
Ron's journey through life was marked by his commitment to both family and country. After attending Central High School in Columbus, he made the decision to join the Navy where he served proudly during the Vietnam War. He was stationed on the USS Valley Forge Aircraft Carrier.
In his professional life, Ron dedicated himself to serving his country even further by working at the Defense Construction Supply Service (DCSC) until his well-deserved retirement. His work ethic and loyalty were evident to all who knew him.
Beyond his career achievements, Ron's true joy came from his family. He was a devoted husband of 54 years to Delores and a loving father to his daughters Kari Wheaton and Jolene Diltz. His grandchildren - McKenna Wheaton, Kaylee Wheaton, Tyler Diltz, and Emma Diltz - held a special place in his heart. Ron was his grandkids daily ride to school, their biggest fan at games and events; his love for them knew no bounds.
Ron will be dearly missed by his surviving family which includes his wife Delores; daughters Kari (Scott) Wheaton and Jolene Diltz; grandchildren McKenna Wheaton, Kaylee Wheaton, Tyler Diltz, Emma Diltz; beloved fur baby Lucy; sister Judy (Warren) Matthews; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In his spare time, Ron found joy in immersing himself in military history and spending time with his pets. His caring nature extended not only to his family but also to those around him. He was a long time member of St. Mary Magdalene Church where he served as an usher and Eucharistic Minister.
A man of unwavering faith, strength and kindness, Ron leaves behind cherished memories that will be forever etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Monday, July 22, 2024 at Newcomer Southwest Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Saint Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, 473 S Roys Ave, Columbus, OH 43204. Ron will be laid to rest at St. Joseph's Cemetery following Mass. A luncheon will be held at Saint Mary Magdalene following the graveside service. May he rest in peace knowing he touched so many lives with his warmth and love.
