Maria Minchew

January 2, 2026

My husband and I, Mo and Maria Minchew, met in Germany in the early 80s while serving in Giessen at the 3-79th Field Artillery (Lance). SFC Sheffield was our platoon sergeant and one we have thought about and remembered for many years. He was the best of them. Humble, kind, technically skilled and a good man. We tried to find him over the years but weren't successful until we were informed of his passing by another comrade yesterday. There are many officers in the 3-79th who missed him and spoke highly of him. We send our condolences and prayers. May he rest in the peace of our Lord. Blessings to his family.
