It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ronald Summers, a cherished figure in our lives, who left us on January 28, 2025, in Jackson, Tennessee, at the age of 81 years, 1 month, 7 days. Born on December 21, 1943, in Ramer, TN, Ronald is the son of the late Lonnie Carol Summers and Candice Mardell Teague Summers. He attended Ramer School.
On September 12, 1963, Ronald joined hands in marriage with Gladys Gray. He was a proud member of the Ramer Baptist Church, a place where his faith flourished and where he contributed as a deacon and Sunday school teacher, guiding others through the teachings he held dear.
For over 40 years, Ronald was owner and operator of Summers' Grocery in Ramer, TN, where he not only built a successful business but also forged lasting relationships with his customers and friends. His passion for life extended beyond his work; he delighted in reading and studying the bible, riding his beloved tractor (until his daughters grounded him), and mowing yards.
His life was richly woven with many titles—son, brother, husband, daddy, uncle, friend, and employer. Yet, the title he cherished most was that of "Paa," a name that echoed love and warmth from his grandchildren, who were the sparkle in his eye.
Ronald will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. As we celebrate the life of this remarkable man, we remember the love he gave freely and the lessons he imparted. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, faith, and unwavering dedication to God and family that will continue to inspire us all.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Summers; two daughters, Danna Young and husband James, Tarsha Basham and husband Kevin; six grandchildren: Summer Dale Basham-Todd and husband Landon Todd, Lane Young and wife Amanda, Logan Young and wife Haley, Libby Basham, Becca Basham, Reid Basham; three great grandchildren: Anna Belle, Will, and Becca Davis; sister-in-law, Pam Summers; nieces, Bridgett Maness and husband Joey, Nikki Farmer and husband Paul; special cousin, Candy Hilburn.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Summers was preceded in death by a brother, Kendall "Bubber" Summers.
