Ronald P. Taylor, 88, of the Plantsville section of Southington and formerly of Cheshire, passed away on Wednesday March 19, 2025. He was the loving husband of Mary A. (DiSalvo) Taylor for 55 years.

Ronald was born on November 29, 1936 in Providence, RI to the late Leonard and Gladys (Molds) Taylor, formerly of Liverpool, England. He graduated from Lockwood High School in Warwick, RI and went on to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Army.

Ron worked alongside his wife Mary at Holly’s Hallmark Shop in Cheshire for 30 years. He loved sports and rooting for the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.

In addition to his wife Mary, Ron is survived by two children, daughter, Paula Taylor of Belmont, ME and son, Mark Taylor and his wife Lisa of Tolland, four grandchildren, Brittany Owen, Jenna Taylor, Kaylie Taylor and Nicholas Dooley, one great-grandson, Timothy and his grand dog, Bailee. In addition to his parents, Ronald was predeceased by five siblings, Lesley, Muriel, Frank, Joan and Robert and his beloved labs, Rocky and Jake.

Ronald’s family would like to thank the staff at Midstate Medical Center for their care, compassion and all of their support.

A funeral service with military honors will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Calling hours will be held before the service from 4 – 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
