Carol Goodwin’s fierce 17-month battle with Glioblastoma ended peacefully on Tuesday morning, September 9, 2025, in the comfort of her sister’s home in Connecticut where she spent her final days surrounded by the love and support of her family and friends. Carol was the devoted wife of the late Robert W. Goodwin, who predeceased her in 2020.

Carol was born on October 17, 1961 in Yalesville, CT to Barbara (Morin) Charamut and the late Fred C. Charamut. She graduated from Mark T. Sheehan High School, Class of 1979 and earned her bachelor’s degree with Cum Laude honors from CCSU in New Britain. Carol was dedicated to her job as the Office Manager for Heney Realtors/Element Real Estate in Central Vermont for 25 years.

Carol and Rob moved to Cabot, VT and lived in a beautiful cabin together with their beloved cats for 23 wonderful years. This home was their sanctuary with bountiful gardens, picturesque landscapes and served as “Camp Goodwin” every summer for her cherished nieces and nephews. Days at “Camp Goodwin” were filled with fishing, sailing, cookie baking to satisfy her sweet tooth, berry picking, creative projects, gardening and creating lasting memories for the whole family. Carol was a master gardener, a talented artist, loved still life photography and was a gifted cross-stitcher, earning “Best in Show” for her work at the Durham Fair. Carol loved nature and being active outdoors, whether it be hiking, kayaking, camping, Alpine and cross-country skiing or spending time in her expansive Vegetable and Flower gardens. She was very thoughtful and a great gift giver, treating everyone to homemade jams and Darn Tough socks for Christmas every year. Her creativity, generosity and beautiful spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends always.

In addition to her mother Barbara, Carol is survived by three siblings; Glenn Charamut and his wife Holly of Southington, Leah “Lynn” Charamut of Ohio and Beth Florian and her husband Sean of Southington, her mother-in-law, Judy Goodwin of Granby, sister-in-law, Karen Lis and her husband Brian of West Hartford, brother-in-law Jeff Goodwin and his wife Carolyn of Bainbridge Island, WA, eight nieces and nephews; JennyLynn Carey (Andy), Kyle Charamut, Casey Darko (Brooke), Brandon Ledbetter, Austin Florian (Erica), Erika Phelps (Will), Jon Lis (Michaela) and Daniel Lis (Iliana) and her great-nieces and great-nephews, Amelia, Adelaide, Avery and Isaac, all of which she loved dearly and unconditionally. In addition to her husband Rob and father Fred, she was predeceased by her father-in-law, Wesley Goodwin.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Carol’s memory may be made to the Connecticut Brain Tumor Alliance (https://www.ctbta.org/) or to the Lakes Region Conservation Trust (https://lrct.org/).
