Ronald "Ronnie" Thomas Jr., a beloved father, friend, and passionate sports fan, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025, at the age of 63, after a life well-lived in Cherryville, NC. Born on May 12, 1962, in Charleston, SC, Ronnie was known for his infectious laughter and his love for family.
A dedicated polisher in the chrome plating industry, Ronnie was a hardworker who knew the value of putting in a good day's work. He also cherished his family above all, always prioritizing them and strengthening those bonds.
Ronnie had a zest for life that was evident in his hobbies. He was an enthusiastic fan of the Carolina Tarheels, Miami Dolphins, and Notre Dame football-always ready to cheer on his teams. When not watching sports, he could often be found enjoying the great outdoors, especially while riding to the mountains, or indulging in his second hobby: eating. Ronnie had a knack for making everyone laugh and creating joyful moments with those he loved.

Ronnie is survived by his daughter, Melissa Buckley; son, Keith Frix (Christine Lanier); grandchildren, Austin Frix, Dylan Frix, Hannah Frix, Christy Ann Frix, and Mary Ann Frix; and great-grandchildren, Hunter Frix, Brantley Frix, Levi Frix, and Liam Frix.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Ronnie's life with a visitation at Chapel Grove Baptist Church - 716 Camp Rotary Rd, Gastonia, NC 28052 on Friday, August 29, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 4:00 PM. Ronnie will be honored and remembered fondly by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church.
He will be greatly missed but will always be remembered for the laughter, love, and joy he brought into the lives of others. Rest in peace, Ronald.
Ronnie was preceded in death by: Ronald Thomas, Frances Davis

It was sad to hear you had passed, you were a good friend,in which i did care about! Your love for music, the talent you had on a drum set was something to see and hear!!! All the concerts we went too were always fun. You did enjoy riding with the music on, you loved your moms cooking, your brothers, you loved your kids, and you loved those grandbabies when they came along! 2 beautiful boys then a beautiful granddaughter, just to start..I can imagine the love you had for all the rest who came after that!!! I can only imagine the peace and love when you seen our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and then having your moms arms wrapped around you once again! My prayers for the family are going up and I'm truly sorry and pray strength, comfort and peace for you all.
