Ronald Thompson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Aria Cremation Service and Funeral Home - Preston Road on Jan. 10, 2026.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Lee Thompson, age 76 on
January 1, 2026.He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather (Papa), brother, and a cherished
friend to many.
Ronald was born September 7,1949 in Marshalltown, Iowa to Charles and
Winifred (Wickersham) Thompson. He graduated from West Marshall High School, State Center,
Iowa in 1967 and worked at Fisher Controls in Marshalltown. On November 15,1969 he married
his wife Karla Anselme. He was a member of the Iowa National Guard for 6 years. On October
8, 1977 they welcomed their daughter Erin Lynn Thompson and on November 7, 1983, they
welcomed their son Kyle Nathan Thompson. They made their home in Marshalltown until 1994,
when Fisher Controls moved them to Mckinney Texas. Ron worked at Fisher/Emerson for 45
years and retired in 2012.
Ron was our "fix it" guy as he was always ready to tackle any task
large or small. His greatest joy was in his grandchildren's sports, volleyball, baseball, and soccer.
He always encouraged them to do their very best. A great day was fishing with the 3 grandsons,
he will be truly missed. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church since 2004, greeting and
ushering was his service for the Lord.
Left to carry on his legacy are Karla, his devoted wife of
56 years, daughter Erin (Kyle) Hejl, son Kyle (Kelly)Thompson. His grandchildren are Aubrey,
Cooper, and Nolan Hejl and Luke and Lily Thompson all of Mckinney Texas; sisters JoAnn
(Jerry) Larsen, Jeanne Helgerson, and sisters-in-law Cathy Thompson and Karen Anselme, as well as numerous cousins,
nieces and nephews. Ron is preceded in death by his parents, a brother and three nephews.
A special thanks goes to Messiahs Rev. Dr. Victor Kollmann, members and friends for prayers
and support.
Celebration of Life for Ron will be January 17, 2026 at 11 am at Messiah Lutheran Church, in
Plano Texas.

Karla and family,
Was so sorry to read of your loss. I, of course remember both you and Ron from school. He was a grade ahead of us. You and I went from K through 12th grade classes together. And didn't we have Ron's mom as our Jr. High English teacher? My husband of forty years, Doug, passed away in August of 2023. I have found some peace in our many memories and happy times together. I wish the same for you and your family.
Please accept my sincere sympathies for you all.
