Ronald Dale Trowbridge (AKA Pop-Pop), 70, of Laceyville, PA, passed away on November 24, 2025, after a brief illness, surrounded by the family he loved in his own quiet, steady way.
Born on July 8, 1955, at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, to Robert Trowbridge and Norma Woodruff Trowbridge. Ron spent his entire life in the Wyalusing/Laceyville Area. He carried with him the values he learned early—hard work, loyalty, and a deep devotion to his family. He was a tough-loving father, the kind whose lessons were built to last, and behind his rugged exterior was a heart firmly committed to those closest to him.
A 1973 graduate of Wyalusing Valley High School, Ron wrestled 120 and 126 for the Rams in 1972 and 1973 seasons. He was a member of the track team, where his 4x100 relay team held the school record for several years. Ron also played cornet for the Rams Marching Band.
On July 19, 1975 he married his high school sweetheart, Kathryn Peterson and shortly after began to add to their family.
After school, Ron entered the work force, spending time working at the Super Duper in Wyalusing and at Masonite before settling into a long career at Procter & Gamble in Mehoopany, spending his entire 24 years and 11 months in the Woodyard before it closed in 1999.
After leaving P&G, he spent time operating heavy equipment for Jay Stanton on many projects including the excavation of the Lime Hill Little League Complex.
In his spare time throughout his work career and into retirement he loved working on the family farm that he was able to purchase from his mother’s estate and he was able to spend the last nine years of his life. In those last years, he enjoyed tending to his large vegetable gardens and tending to the fields. His work ethic was unwavering.
Ron was an avid hunter, enjoying time walking the woods on the farm on North Flat as well as the farm in Jenningsville where many deer hunting stories were formed with friends and relatives over the years.
Ron enjoyed the excitement of NASCAR and the camping trips to Watkins Glen International. He remained a loyal Chicago Cubs and Bears fan through every high (Sunday’s win over his wife’s Steelers) and low. He also enjoyed following the Wyalusing wrestling teams in dual meets and tournaments around the state.
He leaves behind a legacy of strength, resilience, and deep family devotion. His presence will be missed, but the lessons he taught and the love he gave will live on in all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Kathryn at home, children, Brent Trowbridge (Beth) of Wyalusing, Erica (Aaron) Kuzmick of Coal Township and Meghan (Jason) Petlock of Wyalusing along with eleven grandchildren, Katelyn, Michael and Matthew Trowbridge of Wyalusing, Andrew and Ian Kuzmick of Coal Township and Myles and Wesley Kershner of Wyalusing, Mallory (Bailey) Petlock, Jaycee Petlock, Tessa Petlock and Cooper Petlock. Also surviving are a beloved uncle Gene (Jean) Woodruff and his brothers and sisters-in-law Barb (Steve) Williams of Williamsport, Karl (Gina) Peterson of Camptown, Melissa (Greg) Sola of Rowlett, Texas, Rebecca (Mark) Bilinski of Downingtown, Mike (Karen) Peterson of Lititz, Keith Peterson of Ephrata and Kevin (Lisa) Peterson of Harrisburg, a brother Richard and three sisters, Cheryl, Donna and Patricia, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert Donald Trowbridge (2006) and Norma Jean Woodruff (2016), father-in-law Dr. Karl Peterson (1996), mother-in-law Barbara “Maggie” Peterson (2020), an uncle and aunt, Leon (2018) and Audrey (2017) Woodruff.
