Ronald Leroy Turner was born to the late Lelia and James Turner on October 29, 1948. He passed away on October 1, 2023, at home surrounded by his family and friends. Ron was one of fifteen children born to Lelia & James Turner. He attended the New York City Public Schools and graduated from Westinghouse High School in Brooklyn New York. Ron had small jobs after graduation prior to him finding employment at Bellevue Hospital in New York City. In 1973 Ron met Adrienne Marie Nettles on the New York City number 7 Flushing train line. Two years later they were married this union produced two sons Jovan Leroy Turner & Jason Asbury Turner. On November 1, 2023, Ron and Adrienne would have been married 48 years.
In December of 1988 Ron, Adrienne and their sons moved to Bear Delaware where he obtained employment at Christiana Care Hospital as a Patient Guide. In 2003 Ron moved his family into a new home in Smyrna Delaware where he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. One of his favorite pass times was maintaining his lawn he was told by neighbors that he had the best lawn in the development. Ron also enjoyed going to the movies and riding his bike while exploring the town of Smyrna. In 2019 Ron retired from Christiana Care hospital.
Ron was preceded in death by Edward Turner, Gary Turner, Raymond Turner, Dorothy Godfrey, Grace Young, Alice Marshall, Lucille Williams, and Ella Dotson. He leaves to mourn: his wife Adrienne, sons Jovan & Jason Turner. Grandchildren Jaylynn Farren, Amari Turner, Amir Turner, Ny 'Ayer Turner, Jakei Turner and Elijah Turner. Brothers Mason Turner, Warren Turner, and Lawrence Turner. Sisters Ruth Pettie, Lenore Champion and Denise Powell and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and other family members and friends. Special thanks to the Dover Delaware Hospice staff Dawn, Jessica & Jennifer who gave exceptional care to Ron during his time of illness.
Ronald Leroy Turner will be sorely missed, but we know that we have an angel in our lives who will continue to provide us with guidance and strength. What makes us peaceful is knowing you are now at peace.
