It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carolyn Sewell Turner. She was a devoted sister, mother, and grandmother who always put family first. She was born on September 11, 1947 to Jodi and Jean Sewell. She is survived by her brother Harry Sewell (Cheryl and son, Ben and family), her daughters, Crissy Moore (Don) and Jeannie Evans (Darren), her son, Will (Julia), and her grandchildren, Darren Mitchell, Caroline, and Patrick. Carolyn was known for her unwavering compassion for others. She had a passion for history and a life long dedication to teaching. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Carolyn was a force to be reckoned with, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her.She peacefully passed away on August 26, 2025 at the age of 77. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 30, 2025 from 12 - 2 PM at McKoon Funeral Home & Crematory, 38 Jackson St., Newnan, GA 30263. Those who wish may send flowers or they may make memorial contributions to the Brown's Mill Battlefield Association. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Winston Skinner officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park on Roscoe Rd. in Newnan. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting www.mckoon.com. McKoon Funeral Home & Crematory, 770-253-4580.

CT was nothing short of a human dynamo, especially when it came to Brown's Mill Battlefield. We worked with her group for the reactment and the preparation for it as well has helping to get the park ready for opening. Carolyn was a tireless worker for many causes. She will be sorely missed.
