Ronald T. Urquhart, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2025, at MidState Medical Center in Meriden, CT. Born and raised in New Haven, Ronald later settled in Cheshire where he built a life of love, generosity, and purpose.
Ronald is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Agnes, and his two daughters: Lisa Czarnecki of Cheshire, along with her husband Dave, their daughter Adelyn, and Lisa’s son Aldo Fernandez; and Jenna Urquhart of Glastonbury, along with her husband Antonio Musto and their daughter Ramona.
Ronald is also survived by his siblings: George Urquhart (and his wife Lorraine), Carol Cicchetti, Margaret Urquhart (and her husband Dennis Collins), Joan Goodman (and her husband John Potter), Barbara Farquharson (and her husband Dan), and Donna Archambault. He was predeceased by his parents, George Urquhart and Helen (Giamatti) Urquhart.
Ronald’s career in the banking industry was a testament to his dedication and hard work. He began as a bank teller at First New Haven National Bank and rose to become the Senior Vice President and Head of Credit Card Services at People’s Bank in Bridgeport. One of his proudest accomplishments was leading People’s Bank’s overseas expansion to the United Kingdom, where he established their credit card operations in London and Northampton. Ronald earned both a Bachelor’s degree and an MBA from the University of New Haven while working full-time, and was later honored as a Distinguished Alumnus by his alma mater.
Ronald was known for his heart of gold and boundless generosity. He would gladly give the shirt off his back to anyone in need and was always the first to lend a helping hand. A passionate Boy Scout leader, Ronald supported youth, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds, and cherished the lifelong friendships he built through scouting. He also had a deep love for travel, with the Dominican Republic holding a special place in his heart.
Ronald’s kindness, adventurous spirit, and selflessness left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
