Ronald E. Velia, 78-year-old Peggs resident, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2024, in Chouteau. He was born on March 15, 1946, in Lockport, New York. He grew up in the North Heartland, New York area. Ronald worked for the Harrison Radiator Division for General Motors for 30 years, before retiring and moving to the Peggs area. He married the love of his life Marcia L. Green on June 3, 1967, in Heartland, New York. Ronald loved music of all kinds, enjoyed Lynyrd Skynyrd, was on stage one time with Mel Tellis at Branson, he was a huge Buffalo Bill fan, New York Yankees fan, collected eagles, worked as an assistant leader with Boy Scouts, and most of all he loved his family especially his grandchildren. He was a member of the Locust Grove First United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his children, Darcy Velia in 2018, Ronald Todd Velia in 2015, and a brother Bob Velia.
The family includes his wife Marcia of the home, son, Robert Velia and wife Lisa of Yukon, Oklahoma, grandchildren, Cherish Duffield, C. J. Brege, Sydney Velia, Shana Sundown, Shawn Sundown, Megan Velia, Brandon Hunt, Coty Hayes, Harley Hayes, and twelve great-grandchildren, two special pets, his dog Minnie, and cat, Oliver.
The celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Locust Grove. Online condolences may be made at www.stephens-key.com or on the funeral home Facebook page. Arrangements are in care of the Stephens-Key Funeral and Cremation Care of Pryor.
