Ronald T. Wachter, 74, of Pittsfield, PA, passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at Corry Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Ron was born on August 25, 1950, in Altoona, PA, to the late George and Lovetta Hertzog Wachter. He was raised in Chandlers Valley, PA, and graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1968. Shortly after, he began working at Carborundum, where he dedicated 35 years before retiring in 2005.

Ron was a lifelong member of the Garland Volunteer Fire Department where he proudly served for 50 years, and a member of the Cornplanter Search and Rescue. Ron also volunteered on Saturdays at the Warren County Visitors Bureau. He additionally gave countless hours to the community as a volunteer sports coach in the Pittsfield area-no matter the sport, Ron was ready to coach. In addition to his community service, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially when shared with family.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Cathy Nugent; his infant brother, Joey Wachter; and his mother-in-law, Frances Lester and father-in-law Grant "Bud" Lester.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Shelby Lester Wachter, whom he married on July 1, 1972; daughters Rebecca (Jared) Johnson of Spring Creek, PA, and Rhonda (Richard) Pierce of Garland, PA; sons Ronald (Amy) Wachter of Warren, PA, Ramie (Emily) Wachter of Pittsfield, PA, and Randy (Jennifer) Wachter of Pittsfield, PA; two brothers, Michael (Sandy) Wachter of Warren, PA and George (Inez) Wachter of Youngsville, PA; one sister Debbie Markham of Virginia. He is lovingly remembered by his eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call at Pittsfield Wesleyan Methodist Church, 164 Main St., Pittsfield, PA 16340, on Thursday, August 14, from 6:00–8:00 p.m., and again on Friday, August 15, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Paul Kruze will officiate. Burial will follow at Garland Presbyterian Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pittsfield Wesleyan Methodist Church or to Garland Volunteer Fire Department, 31 Bailey Lane, Garland, PA 16416.

Arrangements are under the care of Bracken Funeral Home, Inc., Corry, PA 16407.
