Ronald David Walden

Ronald David "RD" Walden passed away peacefully on December 29, 2025, at the age of 91.

Born on November 19, 1934, in Plant City, Florida, RD lived a life marked by service, dedication, and a lifelong love of sports. In high school, he was a standout athlete for the Plant City Planters, lettering twelve times in football, track, and basketball, and was voted Most Athletic by his classmates in his 1954 senior year.

RD devoted much of his adult life to protecting his community. He began his law enforcement career in 1963 as a police officer in Cocoa Beach-when the town had only one stoplight-and proudly served until his retirement in 1996 from the Brevard County Sheriff's Office. He also served his country in the United States Air Force Reserve, earning an honorable discharge.

A die-hard Florida Gators fan, RD wore his orange and blue almost daily and cheered passionately for his team through every season.

RD was a loving father to four children and a proud grandfather to three grandchildren: granddaughters Taylor Walden and Toni Torquato, and grandson Archer Rexroad.

He was preceded in death by his father Carl Walden, his mother Lillie Belle Walden, his brothers Kenneth, Carl, Jerry, and Thomas, and his sister Virginia Anglado.

He leaves behind his children William Walden, Tamara Walden, Brandy Torquato, and Amy Rexroad, along with his grandchildren Taylor Walden, Toni Torquato, and Archer Rexroad, and friends who will miss him dearly.

A Memorial Service will be held Monday, March 30, 2026 at 10AM at North Brevard Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Francis Reflections Hospice Care in Titusville, Florida, in RD's memory.
