Ronald J Walker of Mount Hope, N.Y. passed away on February 10, 2025 at Garnet Health Medical Center. He was born in Paterson, N.J. on January 1, 1946. He was the son of the late Thomas A Walker and the late Ann P. Johnston Walker.
Ron was a lifelong resident of Orange County, N.Y. He graduated from Goshen Central School class of 1964 and Orange County Community College class of 1967 with a degree in Medical Laboratory Technology. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Naval Reserve and active service with the U.S. Navy having achieved the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class Hospital Corpsman during the Vietnam Era.
Upon return from active service, he pursued a career in the clinical laboratory of Horton Memorial Hospital and Orange Regional Medical Center and retired as lead Hematology Technologist after 53 years of service.
Ron was easy going, loved a good party and was extremely proud of his Irish-Scott heritage. He loved family get togethers and spending time with loved ones. He was mechanically inclined and one of his favorite hobbies was home projects. He also loved fishing, camping and going to his beloved children's and later grandchildren's sports events. He also liked to help others and was quick to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He was a 55-year member of the Waalkill Engine Co # 6 Middletown, N.Y. Fire department and serving most recently as a Vice President, the American Legion post 151, Middletown, N.Y., and life member of the disabled American Veterans Chapter 212 Goshen, N.Y.
Ron is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 54 years, Patricia E (Faulkner) Walker, son Jeffrey M Walker and wife Veronica, daughter Erin K Boyce and adored grandchildren Tyler and Madison Boyce.
In addition, he is survived by brother and sister in laws G, Daniel and Margo Faulkner, Michael and Eija Faulkner, James and Kathleen Cater and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his only sibling Thomas J Walker, son in law Garry L Boyce Jr. and sister-in-law Joanne Faulkner.
At Ron's request there will be no visitation. A memorial Mass will be held at 11 am on Monday, March 10, 2025 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 90 Euclid Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. Following the Mass, Ron's ashes will be interred in the Columbarium with Military honors at the Orange County Veterans Cemetery in Goshen N.Y.
Ron also requests that in lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation,
Mail donations to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island N.N. 10306 or online t2t.org, Garnet Health Medical Center Pediatric Department or Middletown Humane Society.
Arrangements are under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, 130 Highland Ave, Middletown, N.Y.
