Ronald Lee Watson Sr., 72 of Lena, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. He was born on March 23, 1953, in Freeport, IL to Glenn and Arlene (VanRaden) Watson. He married Vicki Wichman on July 5, 1980, in New Glarus, WI. Ron graduated with the class of 1971, from Orangeville High School and after graduation he served in the army reserves for several years. He worked for Newell for 40 years and was a member of the Lena Evangelical Free Church. Ron showed his love in many ways, but one was his love of baking for family and friends, who were blessed with his many baked goods. He also loved working out in his yard and garden, together he and Vicki would harvest the fruits and vegetables. He loved his church and serving the Lord while working quietly behind the scenes to make sure everything was ready for Sunday morning. He never passed by anyone without saying hello. Ron and Vicki took 3 great adventure trips, 2 trips to Hawaii and an Alaskan cruise. His greatest enjoyment was being a stay-at-home papa. Ronald is survived by his wife, Vicki of Lena; three children- Ronnie (Monica Albrecht) Watson, Amber Watson, and Andrew Watson; grandsons Aiden Pierce and Nick Albrecht; brother Roger Watson of Lena; sisters-in law- Linda (Tim) Quinn, Cindy Smith, Elaine (Wayne) Gift all of Lena, and Lynn Wichman of Manchester, IA; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers-in-law Steve Wichman and Jeff Smith. Visitation will be held on Sunday August 17 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Evangelical Free Church in Lena, IL. Funeral service will be held on Monday August 18 at 11:00 AM, at the church. A luncheon will follow the service. Cremation rites have been accorded and burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his name for the Evangelical Free Church.
