Ronald Wenthold age 88 of Ossian, IA passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at Ossian Senior Hospice.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Festina, Iowa, with Rev. Donald Hertges officiating.
Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 8, 2024, at the Festina Community Center with a rosary at 2:30 p.m. There will be no visitation prior to the service on Saturday.
Ron was born at home on March 10, 1936, to Henry & Margaret (Kleve) Wenthold. He received sacraments at Our Lady of Seven Dolors, Festina, and attended 10 grades of school at Festina.
He served in the US Army in Ulm, Germany from 1958-1960. His service was recognized with several awards: Good Conduct Medal, Expert Badge (Sub Machine Gun), and Marksman Badge (Rifle M-1).
Ron married Arlene Boeding on September 17, 1960, at St. Lukes Church in St. Lucas. To this union the following children were born; Donna, Kevin, Kenneth (deceased in infancy), and Debra. Arlene passed away on December 5, 1971.
On January 16,1981, Ron married Marlene (Eischeid, Tigges) at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll, IA. He welcomed her children Terilyn, Sandra, Trisha, TJ, Jason, and Tracy.
Ronald was a dairy farmer until he moved to Ossian in 2001. In his remaining years, he spent his time woodworking, golfing, and spending time with his family.
Ron was survived by his wife: Marlene. His children: Donna (Andrew) Schares, Kevin (Darla) Wenthold, Debra (Jeffrey) Schmitt, Terilyn (Sherif) Ragheb, Sandra (Mike) Harman, Trisha (Dave) McNamara, TJ (Heather) Tigges, Jason Tigges, and Tracy Tigges (Nic Manning). Grandchildren: Justin (Jen) Schares, Sarah (Bryn) Schares, Marcus (Brandy) Wenthold, Jessica (CJ) Doerring, Alex (Tyler) Spencer, Sam Schmitt, Adam Ragheb, Aisha Ragheb, Tyler (Sarah) Harman, Ben (Jenny) Harman, Emily (Tyler) O'Brien, Grace McNamara, Nate McNamara, Brekin Tigges, Briar Tigges, and 19 great-grandchildren. Siblings: Raymond (Marsha) Wenthold, Noreen Drahozal and Sister in law : JoAnn Wenthold.
Preceded in death by his late wife: Arlene, and infant son: Kenneth Wenthold and parents Henry & Margaret Wenthold. Siblings Evelyn (Ralph) Wiltgen, Greg Wenthold, Edwin (Leona) Wenthold, Rita (Francis) Wiltgen, Thecla (Oscar) Ott, Agatha (Leo) Burke, Francis Wenthold, Linus Wenthold, and Margaret (Gervase) Hanken.
