Ronald Wayne Whatley was born February 2, 1955, in Atlanta Texas. He left this life June 15, 2025. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them. His wisdom, kindness and gentle nature will be deeply missed by all who loved him. He was a music lover of many different genres. He also enjoyed spending time in the woods hunting and observing the beauty of the natural world and capturing it in photos. He also enjoyed taking photographs of family and could usually be found with the camera in hand at family gatherings, capturing priceless moments that will be cherished for years to come.
He is survived by two children, Greg Whatley of Atlanta, Texas, and Sheila Collins and husband Matt of Forsyth Illinois. Four grandchildren, Briana Skouras, Alyssa Whatley, and Natalie and Michael Collins. One brother, Jerry Whatley of Atlanta, Texas, and one sister, Linda Hancock and husband Rusty of Queen city Texas. Also, his nephews Keith, Marcus and Matt Whatley and their spouses, Kevin Mainer Junior and one niece Kaley Parker and her husband David. He also leaves several great nieces and nephews.
He held family in the highest regard, only beneath God. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be on Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 9 am to 10 am at Hanner Funeral Service.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Thursday, at Hanner Funeral Service, leading the celebration will be Rusty and Linda Hancock officiating.
Interment will be in Laws Chapel Cemetery.
