Ronald Wayne Whitford, 61, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at AdventHealth Ottawa.
The family will meet with friends from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M., Thursday, February 3, 2022, at Crosspointe Community Church, 621 N. Poplar, Ottawa, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 P.M.
Interment Hope Cemetery, Ottawa, with military honors by Fort Riley Honor Guard.
Ronald was born April 7, 1960, at Princeton, Kentucky, the son of Willis Ronald and Shirley Jean (Sullivan) Whitford.
He lived in Sullivan, Missouri, graduating from Sullivan High School with the Class of 1978. After high school Ronald served in the United States Army from 1978 to 1984 and served in the invasion of Grenada. Following his military service Ronald retired.
On July 7, 2007, Ronald was united in marriage to Peggy Hodo in Sullivan, Missouri. They later moved to Ottawa in 2014. He was a member of Crosspointe Community Church in Ottawa and the National Rifle Association.
Ronald loved his family and grandchildren and the time they spent together. He enjoyed woodworking, target shooting and hunting shows.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife Peggy Whitford of Ottawa; four children, Chris Hodo (Nikki) of Caputa, South Dakota, Aaron Whitford (Kathy) of Kansas City, Missouri, Daniel Whitford of Missouri, and Alicia Hodo of Chanute, Kansas; two brothers, Tim Whitford and Jeff Whitford both of Sullivan, Missouri; and nine grandchildren, Caleb Hodo, Mason Hodo, Landon Hodo, Aden Bechtle, Amy Shelton, Adam Bechtle, Trinity Whitford, Kris Whitford and Hunter Ortega.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Crosspointe Community Church c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
