Ronald A. Wilkowski, 86 of Lapeer, formerly of Gaylord, passed away Friday, April 28, 2023, at Stonegate Health in Lapeer.
Born on August 9, 1936, in Detroit, Michigan, Ron was the son of Edward and Eva (Kalan) Wilkowski.
Ron served in the United States Army for three years, receiving an honorable discharge on October 30, 1956.
On May 21, 1960, Ron and Patricia Kaminski were married in Clawson, Michigan. They lived in Ferndale and Sterling Heights before moving to Gaylord for a few years. Later they moved to Leonard, then back to Gaylord in 1992.
Ron spent his life working as an automobile mechanic. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and camping. He also enjoyed visits to casinos, horseshoes, playing cards, and spending time with his family.
On January 4, 2021, Ron was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia, and sister Madelyn Haytol, and stepbrother Harold Klave. Surviving are their daughters, Michele (Michael) Thorstad of Clarkston and Tari (Jerry) Badgero of Attica; grandchildren, Greg (Jen) Thorstad, Stephanie (Derek) Probstfeld, and Bryon Buchanan; and great grandchildren, Mason Birch, Beckett Probstfeld, and baby boy Probstfeld, due in September; half-brother Herman Klave of Grayling.
A private graveside service will be held at Resurrection Cemetery in Gaylord. Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to Disabeled American Veterans.
