Born on July 9, 1951, in Mitchell, SD, he was a beloved son to the late Kenneth F. and Irene (Felton) Wilson. Ronald's early life in Mitchell saw him through high school and Mitchell Technical Institute before he proudly served his country in the Army during the Vietnam Conflict.

Upon returning home, Ronald established his life in the Pierre/Fort Pierre communities, and married, Marlene Johnston on December 20, 1975. Their union blessed them with two sons, Douglas and Micah, who were the center of Ronald's world. Ronald's dedication to service continued through his career in security and law enforcement, where he worked diligently at the county jail, stood guard at the Capitol Building, and finally, before his retirement from St. Mary's Hospital.

Music flowed through Ronald's veins as he strummed the guitar for various bands-an ode to his lively spirit and love of music. An avid outdoorsman, he found solace and thrills in hunting and shooting, with the sun and the winds of South Dakota as his companions. His love for the outdoors was only eclipsed by the joy and laughter he shared with family and friends during card games and gatherings; these moments were the symphony to his everyday life.

Left to honor and cherish his memory are his children, Douglas Wilson and Micah (Laura) Wilson, both of Pierre; his siblings, Lee (Sandy) Wilson of Sun City, AZ, Corrine (Jerry) Wulf of Pierre, Trudy Kirchhevel of Mitchell, Spencer Wilson of Mitchell, and Warren (Sherri) Wilson of Pierre. Ronald's laughter and kindness will be missed by his extended family, friends, and all who knew him.
