Ronald "Ron" Charles Wolfe, 90, of Clive, Iowa passed away July 14, 2025, peacefully in his sleep at home. He was born December 5, 1934, in Sheldahl, IA to Karl Thomas and Bess Marie (Peterson) Wolfe. Ron was best known for his quick wit, gentle kindness and strong work ethic.

Ron graduated from Scranton High School in Iowa. He then joined the U.S. Army and, as a part of his training, was only one of 1,000 men in his battalion to earn the honor of expert gunner. He did overseas duty for the remainder of his time in the U.S. Army in Germany. He was able to meet up with distant relatives and visit places from his heritage while stationed there.

Thanks to an introduction from his sister, he met and married Eileen Ann Johnson on September 6, 1958. They had two lovely daughters, Debra and Shari.

Ron was not only a great man, he was a wonderful husband and father. He took his family on summer vacations & turned them into a mobile classroom, traveling to nearly every state in the country. Lessons covered how to read maps, keep track of expenses, and appreciating the differences around the country and the beauty of nature through visits to National Parks, museums and local unique attractions. Lessons continued at home for how to care for things, and demonstrated by example a life of making good choices and how to treat others with integrity & respect.

Ron wore many hats from working at Colonial Bakery, AE Dairy to the floor covering and heating & cooling departments at Sears. Ron advanced to managing multiple departments before retiring after over 20 years at Sears. During that same time, Ron was also a volunteer for the Urbandale fire department for many years. Ron then took on a new career working for Wolfe Machinery servicing lumberyard equipment. His wife, Eileen, was able to travel with him for 10 years before he retired again.

Ron is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Eileen; daughters, Debra Elliott and Shari Wolfe. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, and sisters.

Visitation will be 1 PM - 3 PM Monday, July 21, 2025, at Iles Westover Chapel, 6337 Hickman Road, Des Moines, with the funeral to follow at 3 PM. Funeral military honors will follow the funeral and provided by the U.S. Army. Cremation is following the service with burial to be at a later date.
