Ronald Woolsey Obituary
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at Northside Christian Church, Vandalia with Rev. Dennis Warner officiating. Interment will follow in McInturff Cemetery, rural Vandalia. Military Rites will be accorded at the graveside by Brownstown VFW Post #9770 & Crawford-Hale American Legion Post # 95. Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 PM, Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at Northside Christian Church and one hour prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 AM, Wednesday. Masonic Rites will be held at 6:00 PM, Tuesday, following the visitation. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to Northside Christian Church Children's Fund. Ronald Marion Woolsey was born on August 08, 1957 in Vandalia, IL, the son of Herbert and Dixie (Miller) Woolsey. He married Kathryn Lynn (Ray) on July 20, 2019. Together, they celebrated five years of marriage.
Ron was employed by Woolsey Brothers Farm Supply Inc., the family business. He proudly worked alongside his father and siblings for 43 years. Ron was an electrician and sold and serviced grain bins. He loved fishing, playing his guitar, and most of all, he cherished the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Ron was a military veteran having served his country in the United States Navy. He was a member of the Masonic Temperance Lodge, AINAD Shriners, the Tin Lizzie Patrol and Vandalia Moose Lodge #1447. Ron was also a devout member of Northside Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Woolsey; father, Herbert Woolsey and wife Mary; daughters, Nicole Woolsey, Shannon Tate, Amber and husband Jake Weischedel; brothers, Rick Woolsey, Ryan Woolsey with Brenda Dunaway, Raymond Woolsey and wife Coni; sister, Rita and husband Tim Metzger; all of Vandalia; sister-in-law, Cindy Woolsey of Patoka; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother and brother, Randall "Randy" Woolsey.
