Ronald Worley Obituary

Ronald Adams Worley, Jr.

May 5, 1949 - September 28, 2025

Ronald Adams Worley, Jr. (Chip), 76, of Blacksburg, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025. Chip was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, showing deep affection and respect for his family, church, and community. He was a joyful and kind-hearted encourager. He lived by the principle of agape - a Biblical term for selfless, unconditional, and sacrificial love.

A native Virginian, Chip was born in Lynchburg, and spent his growing up years in Fredericksburg, before leaving to attend college at Virginia Tech, where he earned a degree in civil engineering. He and his beloved wife Donna were married for 56 years. Chip was a faithful Christian and an active member of Blacksburg Church of Christ for over 50 years, where he served as an elder for three decades. He loved his church family, enjoyed teaching Bible classes, and was an enthusiastic song leader.

Chip enjoyed a rewarding career as a civil engineer. After a brief time working with the Virginia Department of Transportation, he joined Anderson and Associates of Blacksburg, a consulting engineering firm. Chip worked with Anderson and Associates for 44 years, during which time he helped to plan, design, and implement various projects that improved many communities throughout Virginia and nearby states. He eventually served the company as President and Chief Operating Officer. In his leisure time, Chip especially enjoyed books, maps, his daily print newspaper, exploring history and geography, and stamp collecting.

Family was everything to Chip, and he truly cherished time spent with loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Frances and Ronald Adams Worley, Sr. He is survived by his wife Donna Worley of Blacksburg; daughters Rebecca Miller (Patrick) of Snow Hill, NC, Deborah Worley (Tim Williamson) of Hallock, Minn., and Amy Eads of Clayton, NC; grandchildren Paul Miller (Cameron), James Miller, Mary Amantha Miller, Thomas Williamson, Adam Eads, and Wesley Eads; and sisters, Penny Matter of Bluffton, SC, and Beth Ripley (David) of Fredericksburg, Va. In addition, he is survived by a special aunt, Nancy Jennings of Lynchburg, Va.; as well as many treasured nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of Chip's life will be held at 2 pm, Sunday, October 5th, at Blacksburg Church of Christ (610 Palmer Drive). Visitation will begin at the church building at 1 pm. Private interment will be held at Westview Cemetery.

Dear Donna and family,
My condolences to you. You won´t remember me but I was in Blacksburg in the early to late 80s and have lovely memories of your family. May you find comfort in knowing Chip is at peace and rest with God. Please take care.

I thank you Chip for demonstrating agape love and a Christ-like servanthood to all those you encountered. Your example goes far beyond the words you spoke. I know you are singing praises to our Lord and Savior. Condolences to the family.
