Ronda Lee Gaffield, born on October 19, 1954, in Sidney, Montana, passed away peacefully at her residence on December 18, 2025, surrounded by her loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Throughout her life, Ronda was known for her friendly personality, creativity, and deep love for her family.
She embarked on a career that spanned various towns in Montana and Wyoming, including Sidney, Jordan, Fairview, and Gillette, where she made numerous friends and lasting connections. Beyond her work life, Ronda had many passions. She enjoyed playing basketball and softball with her family, cherishing those sunny days spent outdoors. She also found joy in fishing, pinecone picking, baking, homemaking, and engaging in crafts, showcasing her crafty nature.
Ronda's love story with her husband, Richard James Gaffield, began with a memorable encounter in Montana when she brought water to workers and received a playful pinch from Richard. Their connection blossomed, leading to a week-long visit, and on January 29, 1974, they were married, embarking on a journey of love and partnership.
Ronda's educational journey concluded after the tenth grade, yet her dedication and determination propelled her into active community involvement. She was a proud member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Club for thirty-two years, where she held various auxiliary and state positions and was nominated for the prestigious Alta Browning Award.
Ronda is survived by her devoted husband, Richard; her sons, Richard (Jessica) Gaffield Jr., Tike Gaffield, Joseph (Miranda) Gaffield, and her daughter, Sondra (Gabe) Gaston, all residing in Gillette, Wyoming. She was a cherished sister to Jim Carter (Gillette, Wyoming), Sherry Beasley (Wright, Wyoming), Joe (Chris) Schmidt (Coons Rapid, Minnesota), and Shelly (Leonard) Beasel (Gillette, Wyoming) and many loving aunts and uncles. Ronda's legacy will continue through her thirteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild expected soon, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who all adored her.
Ronda is preceded in death by her father, mother, grandparents, son Chester Gaffield, two sisters, uncles, aunts, two brothers-in-law, two nephews, and one niece in eternal rest.
A celebration of Ronda's life will be held at a later date, allowing her friends and family to gather and share cherished memories of this remarkable woman who touched many lives with her warmth and kindness. Her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ronda's memory to the Iowa City Diabetes Research Center or to Richard who will then send in all the donations.
