Ronnie Adkinson, born on December 11, 1955, in Unadilla, GA. Ronnie passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, humor, and an unwavering dedication to family and friends.

Ronnie enjoyed a fulfilling career, retiring from New York State Airbrake after dedicating 20 years of his life to the company. His commitment to excellence and hard work was a testament to the values he held dear.

In his youth, Ronnie was known for his exceptional prowess as a quarterback, showcasing his athletic talent with remarkable skill. He was an avid sports fan, passionately cheering for both the Atlanta Falcons and the Atlanta Braves. Those who had the pleasure of witnessing him throw a football were often astounded, as he was known to cover impressive distances of 90 to 100 yards. Ronnie's personality was characterized by his kind and compassionate nature. He brought joy to many with his good sense of humor, ensuring that laughter and warmth were ever-present among family and friends. 

A history enthusiast, he had a deep appreciation for the Army and military conflicts, often sharing knowledge and stories that reflected his passion for understanding the past. His military service was a significant chapter in his life; Ronnie proudly served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division for four years, receiving an honorable discharge. He took great pride in his experience, particularly in the thrill of jumping out of planes for the country he cherished.

Ronnie is survived by his loving daughter, Kimberly (Dwaine) Adkinson; his beloved granddaughter, Samarra Mchenry; his sisters, Juanita Adams, Terry Adkinson, Maxine Adkinson, Marie Adkinson, and Janie Mae Burden; and his brother, Tyrone (Rosaline) Adkinson. Numerous, nieces and nephews. Each of them carries fond memories of Ronnie, reflecting the profound impact he made on their lives.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James Sr. and Elizabeth Adkinson; his sister, Bobbie Jean (Vincent) Cherry; and his brother, James Adkinson Jr. Their memories will forever be cherished as part of Ronnie's enduring legacy.

Ronnie Adkinson's life was a rich tapestry woven with love, laughter, and heartfelt connections. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Ronnie's family would like to thank the staff at St. Camillus for all their exceptional care and support, including but not limited to the second-floor staff. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
