Roosevelt Lee was born June 11, 1948, to the Late Reverend William David Lee and Missionary Levada Lee in Midway, Florida. Roosevelt was preceded in death by his brother Ervin Wayne Lee and sister Janice Altharine Lee. He transitioned peacefully on Monday September 29, 2025, at 4:51AM.
Roosevelt was the second oldest of nine children growing up in Midway, Florida. He received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior when he was eleven years old at Midway Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Bishop Elbert L. Sheppard.
Roosevelt attended the public school system in Gadsden County. After graduating from Northside High School in Havana, Florida in 1966, he enrolled in Pensacola Junior College.
Roosevelt was drafted into the United States Army on April 26, 1968. He served in Vietnam from October 6, 1968, until October 5, 1969. While he served in the army, Roosevelt received several medals, Badges, Commendations and Campaign Ribbons Awards such as: National Defense Service Medal, 2 O/S Bars, Army Commendation Medal (1 Oak Leaf Cluster), Good Conduct Medal (1st Award), Sharpshooter (Rifle M-14), Vietnam Service Medal W/2 Bronze Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal W/1960 Device.
While Roosevelt was serving in Vietnam, he saved his unit that was under attack. He dodged bullets all around him and got the broken tank back to running and got them out of harm's way. His mother received a letter of commendation about his bravery, and it made his family very proud of him. Roosevelt tour of duty ended on April 23, 1971, with honorable discharge.
Roosevelt moved to Detroit, Michigan and worked with Ford Motor Company for many years. He also did several other jobs like plumbing and roofing while he was in Detroit, Michigan. Roosevelt was what you call a "Jack of all Trade". He could watch someone do something and pick it up and do a good job like he has been doing it for years.
Roosevelt moved back to Midway, Florida in the fall of 1993 and continued working different jobs. Roosevelt was the joker in the family and always had us laughing out of control. He loved going fishing and hunting with his father and brothers when growing up. When he returned home from Detroit, Michigan, he enjoyed going fishing with his Aunt Ida Lockett.
Roosevelt leaves to cherish his memories: One brother William Lee of Midway, Florida; five sisters, Roberta Lawson of Southfield, MI, Daisy and Betty Lee of Midway, FL, Barbara Lee Grice (Lawrence) and Brenda Lee Pye of Tallahassee, FL; five nephews, Frederick Lawson Jr. (Tonya) of Southfield, MI, Antonio Lee (Angela) of Orlando, FL, Gregory Grice of Atlanta, GA, Jermaine Grice of Tallahassee, FL, Antrovia Roper of Atlanta, GA; five nieces Tiffany Randolph of Dallas, TX (God-Daughter), Latina Lee of Pittsburgh, PA; LaShonda Pye of Tallahassee, FL, Patrice Lee King (Kelly) and Aiesha Lee of Atlanta, GA; three great nieces, Jasmine Lawson of Redford, MI, Marshae Armstrong of Dearborn, MI, and NyKearston Pye of Tallahassee, FL; two great nephews, Jordan Johnson of Pittsburgh, PA and Anton Armstrong of Hamtramck, MI; one great great nephew, Cody Armstrong of Dearborn, MI; one uncle Jessie Williams of Midway, FL; three aunts, Emma Lee of Midway, FL, Janie Jiles of Tallahassee, Fl and Ida Lockett of Quincy, FL; and a host of other relatives and friends.

My condolences and prayers to the entire Lee family. Rosevelt was such a kind and giving Indvidual as when I first moved to Michigan, he was the one who told me about of the other classmates from home and he showed me how to get around in the Motor City of Detroit. Know that his memories will not be forgotten. Rest in Peace my Friend. Charles E. Davis Lawrenceville NJ.
