Roque Lopez Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Castillo Funeral Home on Sep. 1, 2025.
Roque Lopez Jr. passed away on August 20, 2025, at the age of 59. He was born on March 15, 1966. Roque was a 1984 graduate of Edgewood High School. He played sports in high school and had many friends. During his life, he worked as a delivery driver. He had the unique ability to connect with people and oftentimes made lifelong friends at his jobs or the companies he delivered to. He acquired many nicknames from friends and family: "Rocky", "Big Sexy", "Roquito".
He never had a family of his own, but he was the definition of a true family man. Roque wore many hats in the family: son, brother, uncle and cousin were some of his favorites. He enjoyed spending time with family members, and family gatherings were his favorite place to be. He took pride in being involved in his family's lives. He helped raise his nephews, nieces, and great-cousins. They would often hang out, talk, and swim at their "Uncle Roque's". "Rocky" also enjoyed watching sports with family and friends. His favorite teams to cheer on were the Dallas Cowboys, San Antonio Spurs, Houston Astros and Texas Longhorns.

He also had a big heart for helping people. As often as he could, he regularly donated blood and plasma at the San Antonio Blood and Tissue Center. Oftentimes, he shared his free t-shirts, gift cards, or prizes with his family and friends. Roque will be remembered as a good listener and someone who puts others before himself.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roque C. Lopez. He is survived by his mother, Gloria Z. Lopez, and his sisters, Rosalinda "Rosie" Puente (George) and Herminia "Minnie" Rodriguez (Richard). Nephews Albert Jimenez Jr, George Puente Jr. (Madison), Nieces Misty Rose Olivarez (Joshua) and Isabella Concepcion Rodriguez. In addition to four great-nieces. His family and friends will sorely miss him.
