Rosa Camacho Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Provenzano Lanza Funeral Home Inc. on Feb. 8, 2026.
Rosa Maria Camacho sadly departed this world on January 30, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and compassion that will forever be cherished. Born on November 19, 1949, in the town of Ciales, Puerto Rico, Rosa's journey through life was marked by an unwavering commitment to her family, friends, and all those she encountered.
Rosa's compassionate and loving nature were known by all who encountered her. She was the daughter of the late Isabel and Luis Maldonado. She married the love of her life, Miguel A. Camacho: together they lived in Brooklyn, New York, then Manhattan, New York. Together they raised 3 children, who also embody what she was known for: Love and kindness to people of all cultures and backgrounds, she did not discriminate in any form and would be upset if anyone displayed it. Rosa was a beloved member of the Jehovah's Witness family for many years. She was an active member of her congregation; Health limitations did not stop her from participating and helping as best she could.
Survived by a family that loved her very much, Rosa's legacy lives on through her daughter, Rosalie A. Camacho-Collier, wife of David Collier of Ruleville, Mississippi; her sons, Gerald Camacho, with his wife Amanda Camacho (née, Carrion) of Manhattan, New York, and Andrew J. Camacho of Westhampton Beach, New York. Rosa's grandchildren Cynthia Winer, Jacqueline Lopez, Hailey and Aaron Camacho, and Abigail and Andrew Camacho, along with her great-grandchildren Isabelle and Cora Winer, who will forever carry the lessons and love she bestowed upon them. She is also survived by her siblings, Gina Cintron of Virginia, and brothers Angelo and Michael Maldonado of South Carolina, who will continue to honor her memory in their hearts, along with their spouses and children. Rosa was predeceased by her sisters, Maria Gonzalez, Daisy Maldonado, Margaretta Lee, and her brothers Benjamin and Ruben Maldonado.
Rosa's life was one of service and selflessness. She devoted herself to her children and grandchildren, creating a home filled with laughter and understanding. She was also devoted to her congregation; she loved and shared life with many members who were family to her. She was a friend to many, often found sharing meals and making memories with those she held dear. Rosa's love for reading opened up worlds of knowledge and adventure, which she shared with others, igniting a passion for learning in those around her.
A listening ear for many, Rosa had the exceptional ability to uplift and inspire. Her loving, kind, and thoughtful nature made her a confidante and a source of wisdom for friends, family, and even strangers. Her presence was a comforting embrace to those in need, and her guidance instilled hope, courage, and strength to be your best self. She taught us the power of kindness, the strength in gentleness, and the importance of nurturing relationships. Her life was a testament to the fact that one person's love and dedication can truly make a difference.
As we celebrate Rosa's life, let us remember the joy she brought into our lives. Her example will continue to guide us, encouraging us to live with purpose, to cherish every moment, and to love unconditionally. Her life was a reminder that the legacy we leave is woven through the lives we touch.
