Rosa Looper Smith, 100, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2024, at her daughters residence with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Double Springs, North Carolina, on April 23, 1924 to the late Charels Henry and Mae Willis Looper. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by beloved husband James Junior Smith; son, Ron Smith; siblings, George Looper, Thurman Looper, Gladys Lee, and Frances Nation.
Rosa attended Salem Baptist Church when able and spent her career as an assembly worker for Homelite/John Deere. She enjoyed crafting, crocheting, and spending time outside doing yard work and cutting the grass. Her cooking will be a happy memory shared by her family and friends who had the privilege of enjoying it. Rosa was a devoted wife, loving mother, and friend to all she met.
She is survived by her daughters, Suzie Fore (Rodney) and Beckie Angley; grandchild, Kecia Orders (Gage); and her great-grandchild, McKinley Orders; several wonderful nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather for visitation from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at Salem Baptist Church, 1534 Rolling Meadow Lane, Gastonia, NC 28054. A funeral service will follow in the church at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Junior Morris officiating. Burial will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
