Rosalee Patricia Anderson, affectionately known as "Rose" or "Rosie" was born in Philadelphia, PA on March 21, 1949, to the late George A. Calvin and Geneva F. Mines.
She graduated from J.S. Russell High School in Lawrenceville, VA in 1967 where she was awarded a Merit and Honor certificate for outstanding service to the Business Department and the school for going beyond the call of duty.
When she returned to the Philadelphia area, she met and married Godfrey Anderson in 1975. They started their marriage with three children from previous relationships and had two more together.
As a woman with a deep and abiding faith in Christ, she personified 2 Timothy 2:15. Going beyond the call of duty was a recurring theme in Rosalee's life.
She received Christ at an early age at Hickory Run Baptist Church. Passionately committed to her faith, she joined Mount Sinai Baptist Church where she was a member of Senior Usher Board, a member of the Praise and Worship Team, and a member of the choir. Later, after moving to Sharon Hill, PA she became an active member of First Baptist Church of Oakeola where she was a member of the Senior Ministry.
She recognized that her skills and talents were gifts from God, and she invested her life into using them to serve others. She became a certified health unit clerk and was a lifetime member of the National Association of Health Unit Clerk-Coordinators. She was true to her craft by maintaining her certification through traveling to several Unit Clerk trainings and conferences across the U.S.
Her career path started in Dietary at Saint Francis Country House in Darby; PA then led to a unit clerk career at Bryn Mawr Hospital for several years before working at Delaware County Memorial Hospital for over 30 years. She retired in 2011.
She liked to take walks, do crossword puzzles, watch the news, and to drink her morning coffee. She was an avid soap opera fan - especially The Young & the Restless and General Hospital, and enjoyed BET, and Tyler Perry movies. She loved her trips to Atlantic city. She also loved to travel to Maryland to visit her daughter and granddaughters. She loved fellowshipping with the Praise and Worship team and choir members, encouraging and guiding all those individuals who encountered her. Most of all she adored loving and caring for her family and the special Sunday phone calls always warmed her heart.
After battling breast cancer in 2019, she was immediately diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2020 which brought her decline.
She is preceded in death by her parents Geneva F. Mines and George A. Calvin, her brothers Charles Bernard "Butchie" Mines, Bernard Mines (Constance), Leroy Mines (Wilhelmina), Clarence Mines (Beverly), her sister Lois Calvin and Barbara Jean Mines, her grandchildren Christopher and Anthony.
Rosalee is survived by her 5 children, Yvette Calvin, Shawn "Tony" Calvin, Tanya Calvin Proctor (Urian -deceased), Rene Anderson, and Kevin Anderson. Her siblings Alfred Calvin (Cynthia), Eddie Mines (Annette), Howard Lucas, Sharon Bumpus (Rodney), and Deborah Mines. Her 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, one goddaughter and a host of nieces, nephews and faithful friends who watched over her dearly.
