Rosalie Eckels Obituary

Rosalie Gregg Eckels, 89, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully Monday, January 6, 2025, in Canonsburg Hospital surrounded by family. She was born July 11, 1935, in Masontown, W.V., a daughter of the late John B. and Mary Olive Fortner Gregg. Mrs. Eckels was a 1953 graduate of Canonsburg High School. A woman of deep faith and unwavering dedication, Rosalie served as the Director of Religious Education at Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Church for many years, touching countless lives through her ministry and devotion to the church community. Rosalie's legacy is one of faith, love, and selfless service. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the countless individuals whose lives she touched through her unwavering dedication to her faith and family. On June 24, 1961, she married the love of her life, Edward W. Eckels, who died September 29, 2009. She is survived by her loving son, Edward Eckels Jr.; her son-in-law, David Vincent; her treasured grandchildren, Patrick Vincent (Andrew), Natalie Taylor (Travis), and Evan Eckels; great-grandsons, Jack and Brian, who were the light of her life, bringing her immense joy and pride. Also surviving are her sisters, Catherine Hainaut and Janet McMahon; her brother, James Gregg; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband; her parents; her cherished daughter, Wendy Vincent; brothers, J. Joseph, John A. and Franklin S. Gregg; and sisters, Lucille Gregg, Mary Louise Kovach, Helen Mannisto, Joann Hunter, and Ruth Helvey. Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner/Supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, January 13, 2025, in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church of St. Oscar Romero Parish, Meadow Lands. Entombment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray. Rosalie's legacy of faith, love, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace. Dave and family, I´ve been thinking of Rose lately about when she was my mom´s roommate in Townview and how she would catch me up every day and how she and Wendy took my mom under their wing. I am sorry for your loss.
