Rosalie Ann Maxey, 92, of Salem, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, November 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving husband and children.
Born August 15, 1933, in Alma Township, she was the daughter of Oran and Lois (Lonnon) Alderson. On December 12, 1959, she married the love of her life, Melvin Loyd Maxey, at the Alma Methodist Church. Together, they shared 65 wonderful years of marriage.
Rosalie is survived by her husband, Loyd of Salem; their children, Carole Maxey of Salem, Larry Maxey and wife Stacey of Salem, Greg Maxey of Salem, and Mary Ann Griffy and husband Chris of Salem; grandchildren, Ethan Maxey and wife Natalie, Evan Maxey and wife Haley, Claire Griffy, and Jade Griffy; and great-grandchildren, Eleanor, Trace, and Elijah Maxey with another on the way in March.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Rojean Kline.
Rosalie was a devoted member of Cubbage Chapel UMC, from 1959 until the time of its closing in 2015, she was the church pianist for many years. She then became a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Salem. A compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse, she cared deeply for others throughout her career, which started at Missouri Baptist, before coming to Salem Memorial Hospital, then continued her career at Dr. Maulding's office, Dr. Horsman's office, as the Patoka school nurse, nurse for Bob White Apartments and as a private home health care nurse. She was also active in the Home Extension organization for many years. Rosalie enjoyed spending her free time crafting, crocheting, painting, and baking, but her greatest joy in life came from her family and especially her grandchildren.
