Rosalind "Ro" Sinicropi

Rosalind "Ro" Sinicropi, 84, of Amsterdam, NY passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at Ellis Hospital with her family by her side.

A lifelong city resident, Ro was born on March 23, 1941 to the late Anthony "Blackie" and Jenny Picciocca Agresta. She attended local schools and was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School. She went on to further her studies at SUNY Oswego where she received her teaching degree. Ro was also a graduate of the Europa School of Cosmetology.

For 27 years, Ro was employed as a teacher with the Greater Amsterdam School District teaching cosmetology and hairdressing. Dedicated to her craft, she was able to incorporate not only job skills, but also life lessons in the classroom. She had an incredible bond that she shared with her students, that often led to lifelong friendships.

On May 14, 1961 she was united in marriage to Carmen Sinicropi. That union was blessed with 64 years of marriage and three children. As the matriarch of the family, and known to many as "Nanny" her home was often the center for holidays, celebrations and family time. She loved her family fiercely and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was predeceased by her brother, Anthony Agresta and her sister-in-law, Connie Agresta.

Survivors include her husband Carmen; three children, Michele (Michael) Downing, Carmen Sinicropi, Michael (Jamie) Sinicropi; eight grandchildren, Lauren Tegnander, Courtney (Cesar) Ortiz, Michael (April) Downing II, Alexandra (Christopher) Nicastro, Anthony (Taylor) Sinicropi, Anne Sinicropi, Michael Sinicropi II, and Haley Sinicropi; nine great grandchildren, Logan, Nico, Maddox, Miesha, Carmella, Gabriella, Micah, Blake and Hallie; her brother, Joseph Agresta; her daughter-law-law, Tamira Sinicropi; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, December 1, 2025 at 11a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, 39 St. John Street, Amsterdam, NY with The Very Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis E.V. as celebrant.

Calling hours will be held prior to the funeral Mass on Monday, beginning at 9a.m. at the church.
