The presence of some people can never be replaced, and their departure reminds us that angels are watching over us. On Saturday, September 25th, 2021, Rosalinda Rose DeVincentis, "Linda," gained her wings and rejoined her husband, sisters, parents, and her never forgotten son. Fittingly, Linda was born on Valentine's Day 1933 in Vacri, Italy. She was the daughter of the late Carmine and Italina Pirozzi and daughter-in-law of the late Florindo Antonio and Maria Nicola DeVincentis. Linda was pre-deceased by her husband Raimondo, infant son Riccardo; sisters Maria DeVincentis and Emma Porreca; brothers-in-law Antonio DeVincentis and Giuseppe DeVincentis; and caring nephew Anthony DeVincentis. Linda is survived by her devoted sons Roberto (Cathy) DeVincentis & Ricky (Milena) DeVincentis; grandchildren Melissa (Mark) Powers, Nicholas (Heather) DeVincentis, Ryan DeVincentis, Raimondo DeVincentis, & Riccardo DeVincentis; great-grandchildren Livia Powers, Rocco Powers, Luciano DeVincentis, & Francesca DeVincentis; brother and sister-in-law Sabatino & Louise Pirozzi; brother-in-law Rocco Porreca; sister-in-law Angela DeVincentis; special nieces Nellina (Mark) Dellapenna, Maria (Scott) McAlister, and Maria Bocek; and faithfully loyal extended family of Giacco & Tina D'Alessandro along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Linda's life was marked with courage and strength having emigrated from Vacri to the United States in 1954 at the age of twenty-one to rejoin Raimondo who came in 1951. Upon arriving in America, Linda worked at Endicott-Johnson, Triple Cities Dress, and Mary Ann's Restaurant. In the mid-1960s, she became a full time stay at-home mother so that her husband could fulfill his lifelong dream of owning and operating a construction company. Linda's greatest enjoyment was being with her family and friends. Whether it be cooking Sunday dinners for her family, participating in the Sewing Club, or going on adventures with her friends, children, and grandchildren, Linda's sparkling personality was always creating memories that would be laughed about later over espresso and taralli. Along with Linda's playful sense of humor, superior culinary talents, and natural caretaking prowess, Linda's unconditional love was felt by all who were fortunate enough to know her. For her heart was so grand that the family called her the Treasure of the Sierra Madre. Linda was our Queen and her unconditional love will reverberate through present and future generations.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Carol Madigan and the entire staff at Brookdale Vestal West, especially Lucy and Joann, who continuously gave her extraordinary care. They always made her feel very loved and like "the favorite". A special thank you to everyone at Mercy House as this remarkable facility gave Linda the respect and dignity to pass peacefully.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 37 Fayette Street, Binghamton, NY 13901. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours for family and friends will be held at St. Mary of the Assumption Church from 8:30am until 9:45am prior to mass The family asks that those that come to honor Linda wear masks at the wake and at the Funeral Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to Mercy House or a personal charity of one's choice. Arrangements are with Albert J. DeMarco at the Thomas J. Shea Funeral Home Inc.
