It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rosanna Archuleta, who left us on June 15, 2025, at her home in Dixon, NM. She was born June 4, 1977 to Gerald Esquibel and Judy Valdez.
Rosanna was preceded in death by her father, Gerald, Grandfather who raised her, Elive Valdez, and Former Mother-in-Law who loved her as a daughter, Esther Archuleta.
Rosie, as she was affectionately known, loved to listen to her son, Onesimo III, play his guitar and always spoke of the endless love she had for her sons. She will always be remembered for picking cherries in her pajamas and also for how much she loved to eat mustard sandwiches in her childhood. The pain of her loss is a reminder of the beautiful, kind and loving soul she was. Our only comfort is knowing she is in the arms of our Lord and the loved ones who greeted her at the gates of Heaven.
She is survived by her beloved sons Onesimo Archuleta III, of Dixon, NM, and James Smith, of Arizona; loving husband Richard Peña of Dixon, NM; grandmother who raised her, Gloria Valdez of Antonito, CO; mother Judy Chavez of CO; sisters Cynthia Valdez (Joey Peralta), of Taos, NM; Angelica Quezada (Martin) of CO, and Brother, Pedro Chavez, Jr., of CO. She is also survived by her mother-in-law Julie Sanchez; father-in-law Walter Sanchez; brother-in-law Herman Peña, all of Dixon, NM; fathers of her children, Onesimo Archuleta II and Randy Smith; former father-in-law Onesimo Archuleta as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and countless others who loved her.
