Rosario (Mich) Michaud, Jr. passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by friends on October 7l 2025. Mich was born September 19, 1943 in Belfast, Maine to Rosario J. Michaud, Sr. and Annie Pine Michaud.
Mich was a 1961 graduate of Belfast Area High School where he excelled in football.
After high school Mich joined the Army, serving from 1961-1967 and achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class. He was a member of the elite Army Rangers, served in Vietnam and was decorated with a Silver Star, Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.
After his discharge from the Army he worked as a banker in Philadelphia. He returned to Maine to attend Husson College where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 1971.
After college he worked for Cianbro Corporation until joining the Belfast Police Department in 1979. Mich quickly rose to the rank of Sergeant in 1982, a position he held for 22 years before his retirement in 2004.
Mich was an avid golfer, weightlifter and skydiver. He spent his retirement years pursuing these hobbies along with walking and meeting up for coffee with friends. Dunkin' Donuts was a favorite meeting spot for years.
Mich is predeceased by his father Rosario Michaud, Sr., mother Annie Pine Michaud, brother Tom Michaud and cousin and close friend Richard Collins, along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Mich was a great friend to many. He was well respected in the law enforcement community and he will be sadly missed. Thank you, Mich, for your service to our country and the citizens of Belfast.
Donations may be made to the Bangor Humane Society, a place he often visited: 693 Mt Hope Ave, Bangor, ME 04401. Memories and condolences may be shared on his tribute wall.
