MRS. BERNS
Roselyn "Rose" Christina (née Gabrys) Berns, 60, of Flemingsburg, Kentucky, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Tuesday, July 29, 2025. She leaves behind her husband, Chad Thomas Berns.
Rose was born on October 13, 1964 in Hammond, Indiana to her parents, the late Leo Gabrys and Balbina Ogorek.
She served her country in the United States Navy from 1983 to 1997 during the Persian Gulf War era. She was the Principal Organist and Choir Director at St. James Church in Brooksville, KY and St. Augustine Church in Augusta, KY, as well as a parishioner of St. Augustine parish.
In addition to her husband, she leaves behind three sons, Sean Bledsoe, Daniel Bledsoe (Anne Marie), and Josef Berns; four daughters, Lauren Jordan (Ken), Sofia Berns, Samantha Berns, and Katie Berns; and six grandchildren, Logan, Cole, Khloe, Kate, Chase, and Olivia.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at St. Augustine Church by Rev. Joseph Shelton.
Interment will follow in the St. Augustine Cemetery in Augusta.
Visitation will be on Friday, August 1, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Metcalfe-Hennessey Funeral home in Augusta, Kentucky.
Memorials are suggested in the form of Mass intentions in care of St. Augustine Church, 215 East Fourth Street, Augusta, Kentucky 41002.

Rose was the music director at St. William of York Church in Stafford, VA, when I joined the parish and the choir in 2004. She was passionate about the faith and her ministry and strove to get the best from her choristers. I am glad that I had the chance to serve the Lord with her through music.
