Rose Catherine (Solich) Buchan

Age 95, passed in peace on September 15, 2021 at her Brookdale residence in Mt. Lebanon, PA.
Ignatius and Lucy Solich welcomed Rose into their large and loving family in Johnstown, PA, on December 20th, 1925. Rose married George Buchan in St. Rochus Croatian Catholic Church on June 14th, 1947.
Rose's saying, "Everything in moderation-even moderation," is a nod to her life philosophy and twinkling wit. She was a social beacon at Brookdale, a caring life-long friend, and an example of unconditional love. Rose kept her mind sharp through crosswords, cards, crotchet, reading and keeping up with current events. Throughout her long full life, she was a mother, a mentor and a gift to those who knew and loved her.
Rose's surviving family includes her children Glenn (Jodi) Buchan, Joyce (the late Thomas) Alper, Gary (Ellen Janosko) Buchan. She is Grandma Rose to Benjamin (Katie) Alper, Andrew Alper, Katie Buchan, Sydney Buchan, Margot (Mitch) Russell, and Maxwell Buchan, as well as great-grandma to Jackson Alper and Wyatt Russell.
Funeral arrangements by BEINHAUERS. Friends and Family are welcome at 2630 W. Liberty Ave., Dormont 412-531-4000 on Sunday 2-8PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday 10AM in St. Philip Catholic Church, 50 W. Crafton Ave. Pittsburgh, PA 15205. A Committal Service will be held Monday 2PM at Grandview Cemetery, 801 Milcreek Rd., Johnstown, PA 15905.
Memorial donations may be made to the Verland Foundation at 212 Iris Rd, Sewickley, PA 15143 (https://www.verland.org/). Verland is a long-term care provider for individuals with developmental disabilities, including granddaughter Katie Buchan.
