Coralville- Rose Louise Cheney was born December 2, 1945, in Sigourney, Iowa. She was a daughter of Leonard William and Velma Louise (Campbell) Hubbell. She attended school at North English, Millersburg and graduated from Iowa Mennonite School near Kalona. On June 5, 1966, Rose was united in marriage to Larry Leroy Cheney at the North English Christian Church. They made their home in Solon for a few years before moving to Coralville in 1968. She worked as a custodian at the University of Iowa for 30 years. Rose was a former member of the North English Christian Church and the Christian Bible Fellowship Church in Coralville. She enjoyed planting flowers, gardening, sewing, quilting and spending time with her dog Angel. Rose died on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at Colonial Manor in Amana, Iowa, at the age of 77 years.
She is survived by two sisters Gloria Hahn of Oskaloosa and Melinda (Robert) Kochuyt of Marengo; a brother Terry Hubbell of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents; two brothers Albert and Jeffrey Hubbell; a brother-in-law Earl Hahn; and a sister-in-law Phyllis Hubbell.
Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 am on Friday, September 15, 2023, at the Powell Funeral Home in North English. Burial will be in the Millersburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10-11 am on Friday, at the funeral home. A general memorial fund has been established. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
