Rose Corrado, of Sea Bright, N.J. passed away peacefully February 17, 2026 surrounded by her family. She was 78 years old.
Born Rosa Maria Buttacavoli in Belmonte Mezzagno, Sicily on May 22, 1947 (IYKYK). She immigrated to the United States at the age of 15 with her parents and two sisters, eventually settling in Garfield, N.J., She met the love of her life Peter Corrado and they were married September 5, 1970. Through the years of Rose lived and raised a family of three children in Paterson, West Paterson, Wayne, Franklin Lakes and
Sea Bright, NJ.
Rose's greatest joy was her family, and she cherished being a loving mother and wife. She was always with her children at sports practice, dance class, games, and recitals. She helped with homework, even if she sometimes didn't understand the assignment herself and was always the class Mom at school. All the kids wanted Rose as their chaperone on class trips because Rose's group always had the most fun, and she always brought homemade cookies for her group. Rose's home was always filled with her children's friends who referred to her as Mrs. C or Mom. Nieces, nephews and close friends called her Zia (aunt). Beyond just an aunt, Rose was a nurturing mentor, confidante, and an integral part of their life.
Rose made everyone feel welcome and people were drawn to her wherever she went, from Macy's to the hairdresser, or the nurses and doctors who treated her for cancer. Everyone loved Rose, and the room lit up when she walked in. Maybe it was the cookies…if Rose came to your home or she just wanted to say thank you, there was always a container of her homemade Italian cookies.
Rose could not swim, but loved to spend time on their boat. First "Pete's Place" then "My Rose". She enjoyed life by the water and cruising to different destinations with her husband. Peter was her Captain, and Rose was his First Mate. Up and down the Navesink River, through the Hudson, out the Long Island Sound, together with their Family.
In her later years Rose became a Nonna (Grandmother) to nine grandchildren. Rose had a gift of making each grandchild feel extra special, each one holding a special place in her heart. Gifts, special birthday cards with handwritten notes, a heartfelt phone call or text, from her heart.
Rose was loving and kind to everyone she met. She lived a joyful life of giving to others and was well loved and respected by those who knew her. She will be missed.
When Rose arrived in heaven, we are certain she had a tray of cookies with her for everyone to enjoy.
Rose is survived by her beloved husband Peter, they have been married for 55 wonderful years. She is also survived by three children; James, and his wife Mary Rose; Frank, and his wife Kendra; Michele, her husband Greg and nine Grandchildren; Sofia Rose, Dante, Marco, Peter, Frank Jr, Andrew, Ali Rose, Michael and Giovanna Rose.
A Celebration of Rose's Life for immediate family will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to
st. jude's hospital or Leukemia Research Foundation. Thompson Memorial Home of
Red Bank, NJ has been entrusted with the arrangements.
