George Scott Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Thompson Memorial Home - Red Bank on Mar. 18, 2026.
George Lee Scott, 91, of Eatontown, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026.

He is preceded in death by his father, George Lee Scott Sr., his mother Mary Grace Scott (Willard), brother David Scott, sister Mary Louise Scott, and son Stephen Andrew Scott.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Joan Dolores Scott; his sons Chris, Greg, and Matt; his daughters Cathy, Julie, Anne, and Marisa; as well as ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him great pride and joy.

Born and raised in Newton, Massachusetts, George served in the Air Force after high school before graduating with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from UMass and a master's degree from NYU. He retired in 1996 after a distinguished career with Bell Labs and AT&T. He was known for his dedication and thoughtful problem-solving.

Above all, George cherished time with his family. He and Joanie shared many happy years traveling together, visiting family members and friends around the country, and several national parks in their motorhome. He liked to repair electronic equipment, and had a lifelong love of ice cream, a simple pleasure he always enjoyed.

George will be remembered for his kindness, steady presence, and deep devotion to his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Memorial Visitation will be held at St. Dorothea's Church, 240 Broad St, Eatontown, NJ 07724 on Saturday, March 21st from 9-10 am, with a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 10 am. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Middletown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations to Doctors Without Borders or Catholic Relief Services are kindly appreciated. Arrangements are under the direction of Thompson Memorial Home of Red Bank, NJ.
